AIAA at UH Mānoa
A student-led bridge between campus learning, hands-on missions, and Hawaiʻi's aerospace community.
Our student chapter
Founded in 2024, the AIAA at UH Mānoa brings students from every discipline and experience level into a shared aerospace community. We turn curiosity into practical experience through technical projects, professional talks, peer learning, outreach, and connections to the people already advancing flight and space research in Hawaiʻi.
Our branch advocates for a growing aerospace-focused curriculum across the University of Hawaiʻi, supports student-led engineering teams—including fixed-wing design, build, and fly work—and creates a welcoming point of entry for anyone who wants to explore aeronautics or astronautics.
Community · Research · Opportunity
Our branch is strongest when student leadership connects with UH's mission-driven research and NASA-supported education network.

The student branch helps turn classroom knowledge into the collaborative, systems-minded experience aerospace teams need. Projects, design reviews, workshops, and officer roles give members room to practice technical communication, project leadership, and multidisciplinary problem-solving before they enter the workforce.
By bringing students together with researchers, alumni, and local professionals, the branch makes Hawaiʻi-based aerospace pathways more visible. That connection helps develop and retain emerging talent while giving local organizations a direct way to mentor, recruit, and inspire the next generation.
Branch + section
AIAA lists UH Mānoa in Region VI under the San Fernando Pacific Section. The student branch serves as the campus base: it develops future professionals, creates student programming, and brings new voices into aerospace. The professional section extends that pathway through a regional network of practicing engineers, scientists, educators, and industry leaders.
Together, the branch and section connect local student energy with AIAA's broader technical community—opening doors to conferences, scholarships, design competitions, professional development, and relationships that continue beyond graduation.
